Agile Operational Governance to Optimise Asset Decision-making

Challenge

  • Changes to the R&D organisational structure and strategic governance process created a need to review and optimise governance at a project level
  • There was appetite to simplify the current R&D operational governance model, reinforce project team empowerment and embed agility within the operational governance model

 

Solution

  • Interviewed more than 40 key stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement in the current operational governance model and summarised them in a diagnostic
  • Led working groups to form solutions for priority ‘hot topics’ identified in the diagnostic and refined them in Core Team and Steering Committee meetings
  • Evolved the operational governance model in line with three guiding principles: simple, empowered, agile

 

Results

  • Newly defined operational governance model for asset-level and cross-project decision-making and guidance
  • A clear implementation plan to embed operational governance changes including the implementation governance model, roadmap, and communication plan
